Tiny Navajo Reads: Top Ten Character Freebie

Hi guys! It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday! TTT was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s theme is a bit of a freebie, just ten favourite characters from books. What I’m going to focus on are the characters that I would like to be. With my adoring love of books and characters, there are a lot of people I would love to be in these books.

Lady Isabella Trent from The Memoirs of Lady Trent series by Marie Brennan

Alexia Tarrabotti from the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger

Sabriel from the Abhorsen series by Garth Nix

Chi from Chi’s Sweet Home graphic novels by Konami Kanata

Sophronia from the Finishing School series by Gail Carriger

Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Bennett

Will from The Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan

Briar Moss from the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce

Princess Cimorene from the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede

Shai from The Emperor’s Soul by Brandon Sanderson

I love all of these characters and if there were any way possible, I would love to be these characters. I have read these books several times and have always wanted to do what these characters do.

What are some of your favourite characters? Who would you want to be? Comment below and let me know!

Tiny Navajo Reads: The Complete Chi’s Sweet Home, Part 4

The Complete Chi’s Sweet Home, Part 4 by Kanata Konami

♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

chi's sweet home 4I have loved reading about Chi and her adventures as she’s gotten used to living not only with humans but with her own family. In this last volume though, Chi learns what we already knew, that she is a cat and has a cat family somewhere. As Chi gets used to the idea that she’s not the same as her family, the Yamadas make the discovery that someone has been looking for Chi, a lost kitten who has a family. As the Yamadas try to decide what to do, Chi’s friends tell her that she has siblings and a momma, someone who has been looking for her for a long time. Things start to change fast, as Mr. Yamada learns that there is a chance for him to join a business with some friends in France. That would require them to move. Add that with trying to figure out what to do with Chi and those looking for her, it’s decided that the Yamadas would give Chi back. Yohey is not happy with this decision, but he knows that what his parents choose will be okay.

When Chi is returned to her family and she gets used to being with her cat family again, she learns that the Yamadas are moving. In learning this, she realizes that she wants to stay with the Yamadas. Family is more than just who looks like you, it’s who loves you and who you want to be with. And I love it! This was such a cute series and I want to keep it, but sadly it was a library book so I had to give it back.

What series was just so cute that you wanted to keep the characters for yourself? Comment below and let me know!

Tiny Navajo Reads: Chi’s Sweet Home, Part 2

Chi’s Sweet Home, Part 2 by Konami Kanata

 ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

chi's home 2We follow Chi again, on her second set of adventures, only now she’s allowed to be seen around the apartment and the apartment complex! Yay for pet-friendly homes!

Chi and her family have decided to move, in order to keep Chi. We start with the Yamadas packing up their apartment in order to move. As many know, moving can be stressful, especially when there are pets involved. Chi doesn’t like this whole moving thing, nor does she like the new apartment until she realizes that she can make the whole apartment her’s. In doing so, she comes to love her new home.

This set of comics is of Chi getting to know her new neighborhood as well as her new apartment. We as people go through this phase as well, but to see it through a kitten’s eyes can show us how truly terrifying it can be. But also how rewarding it can be when you get to know your neighbors and come to realize that you love your new area. The next volume will hopefully have Chi making more friends and exploring to her heart’s content.

When was a time that you were terrified to move? Or have you moved? Did you move for a job, for family, or just because you felt you needed a change? Leave a comment below and let me know!

Tiny Navajo Reads: The Complete Chi’s Sweet Home, Part 1

This adorable story about a kitten who loses her way home gets adopted by a new family, and her everyday adventures learning how to deal with living in an apartment with humans! I love the adorableness and the cuteness, and how accurately the author was able to portray the way a kitten/cat thinks about their place of living and the human family members.

This is definitely one of my favorite graphic novels, not for the adventures that I usually read, but for the way an everyday activity, such as chasing a grasshopper or wanting to go outside, can seem like such a big deal for a little kitten. While a very low-key book about everyday adventures, Chi shows that you don’t need a huge world, or a major problem to make a loveable story. Even my husband loved this. I was reading it as we drove home from a weekend visiting family, and would explain the little stories to Richard.

Do you guys have pets? What kind of pets? Do you have any cute stories about their little everyday shenanigans? Leave them in the comments below!
