It’s the 2020 my good friends and we are already 1/12 of the way through. A new year, a new decade, and a whole new slew of books to read! YAY! And it’s time for our…
If anything, the new year for me is a time to reset my book counter and see how many books I can read. I love setting absurdly high goals for myself, but I noticed towards the end of last year that it was getting hard for me to read as many books as I wanted now that I have a full time job. So, this year, I set myself a reasonable goal of 52 books, so one book per week, so that I still have something to aim for, but I don’t feel like I’m scrambling in order to meet my goal. This is actually lifted quite a burden from me that I hadn’t noticed I was carrying concerning my reading goals.
Anyway, I’ve gotten a little carried away. This is supposed to be about the books I read this January. So, in total, I have read 17 books. Now, don’t get too excited, a LOT of these books were manga and I can read these really fast and in a very short amount of time. Not every month will be like this and while I enjoy reading manga, I do know that I want to read other books as well.
The titles of the books I’ve read this month are The Way of the Househusband, The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, Soulless, Budgeting 101: From Getting Out of Debt and Tracking Expenses to Setting Financial Goals and Building Your Savings, Your Essential Guide to Budgeting, My Hero Academia Vol. 1-6, A Street Cat Named Bob, Orange: The Complete Collection, Vol. 2, Food Wars! Vol. 17-19, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse The Official Movie Special, and Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World. A lot of manga, like I said, but a few nonfiction books and of fiction books, and one audiobook.
I’ve gotten myself into Food Wars! and My Hero Academia and I’m loving both of these. I just need to start watching the anime series that are based off of these. And as you can see, I’m steadily making my way to my goal while also enjoying the books I’m reading. That’s all that I really want to do, is to be able to enjoy the books that I read.
So, what do you have planned for this new year of reading books? How do you continue to ensure that you’re enjoying what you read? Comment you tips and tricks below and let me know!
