food wars 3Our third volume of Food Wars! takes us to that school trip that every school manga must take you on, only there is the possibility of you getting expelled on this trip. How many from Polaris Dorms will survive?

The “teamwork and friendshipbuilding” camp from hell begins! While most students are already petrified by the threat of instant expulsion for low marks, the unveiling of the teachers responsible for judging their dishes ratchets their fear to a whole new level! Just which anxiety-inducing teachers hold the culinary futures of Soma and the rest of the Polaris crew in their hands this time? Includes the one-shot “Your and My Romance Counseling”!

This is no friendship building camp, this is the camp from hell. And Soma doesn’t realize this until they show up and are thrown into competitions and skill drills right away. But when Megumi is expelled for changing up a recipe set by one of the instructors, Soma issues a shokugeki to the instructor, stating that if he won, Megumi would be reinstated. And that’s where this volumes ends.

What’s the best part about this volume is how much Soma cares for his friends, even to the point of issuing a battle cry on the behalf of someone who he has only known for a short while. And this is why Soma is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters in any manga. What makes a character become a favourite of yours? What qualities draw you in? Comment below and let me know!
