The Mighty Thor, Vol. 5: The Death of the Mighty Thor by Jason Aaron

The final volume of Mighty Thor, of Jane Foster as Thor, and it is a fantastic finale for one of my favourite versions of Thor.
Marvel Legacy hits Asgard with a bang, with…the death of the Mighty Thor! The final judgment comes as the Mangog arrives. The War Thor will meet the beast head-on, but even the bloodthirst of this Ultimate hammer-wielder may pale in comparison to the Mangog’s might! The battle rages even as Jane Foster’s cancer takes a turn for the worse, and she might not have to wait for the final judgment at all. The clock is ticking, the War of the Realms is spreading, and Mjolnir cannot save her this time. Can even the legendary Hercules help avert disaster? It’s the beginning of the end – one that will lead to the most dramatic return in the Marvel Universe!
Okayokayokay….there’s not a lot that I can write about without giving the whole ending away which is the best bit! I love Jane Foster and her friends and all those who look to keep her safe and hopefully as herself long enough for the chemotherapy to take actual effect on her. I love how much she knows that she’s killing herself slowly, but she can’t ignore the injustice in the world or the call of Mjolnir; she has to answer the call, she has to become Thor.
Overall, I will say that this is a most satisfying ending to a comic series that I have ever read! Really well done! What do you think of comic series endings? Do they hold up the story arc of the series? Comment below and let me know!
