animosity 1One of my friends at work had this on her desk and again, the first line of the back blurb caught my attention and I had to read it! My friend is amazing and she let me read it before she took it home after work. Love my friends!

One day, for no reason, the Animals woke up. They started thinking. They started talking. They started taking REVENGE. Collecting the first four issues of the best-selling series, plus the special one-shot issue ANIMOSITY: THE RISE.

The world is plunged into chaos as the newly-intelligent Animals fight humanity, and simply fight each other, for their own life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. In the midst of the turmoil is Jesse, an 11-year-old girl, and her dog, Sandor, who is devoted to her and her protection. One year after the incident, Jesse and Sandor begin a cross-country journey to find Jesse’s half-brother, Adam, who is living in San Francisco.

This is such an exciting comic and it’s one that definitely makes you think. What would happen should animals become sentient? How would you react? Would you run? What do you think your pets would do?

It’s honestly just a little bit scary to think what would happen. I don’t think I’ve been overly harmful to animals, but I don’t know. I also don’t have pets; I know people that have pets, and they are well taken care of. But it’s still terrifying to think that you’re visiting the zoo and then the animals become sentient and they start to think and talk and possibly run to take you down.

As with all things though, there are good animals and bad animals, just like there are good people and bad people. Sandor, our main character, is a good animal, to a point. He loves his girl, Jesse, and he will do anything he can in order to take her where she wants/needs to be in this new world. If anything, this gives us a glimpse of a world where we are not the only ones who have order of the world. We have to negotiate how to live in a world where we are not the only dominant species on this planet.

What would you do in a world like this? Would you work with the animals or would you turn violent against them? Comment below and let me know!
