Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon

I follow Austin on Instagram and I’m not honestly sure how I started following him, but I love his channel as he talks about being creative and when I saw that he had a new book coming out, I realized that he also wrote books. So, being the bookworm I am, I looked up his books in my library and checked out his first one.
You don’t need to be a genius, you just need to be yourself. That’s the message from Austin Kleon, a young writer and artist who knows that creativity is everywhere, creativity is for everyone. A manifesto for the digital age, Steal Like an Artist is a guide whose positive message, graphic look and illustrations, exercises, and examples will put readers directly in touch with their artistic side.
What was my favorite thing about this book was that it was about being creative rather than being artistic. There is a difference. And it’s a difference that can sometimes be forgotten in the creative zone. Creative doesn’t always equal art, and Austin Kleon stands on that. He gives advice that has helped him with his creative process and in my opinion, it’s advice that stands on its own because it is advice that you can apply to any creative aspect. You want to write carry a pen and notebook around with you and write when you can. You want to draw, read and skim through books to gain inspiration. You want to do anything creative, look for ways you can be creative.
