fruits basket 12We are in the final volume for Fruits Basket and it was such a long journey but it was all worth in the end; both for us and for the characters!

Finally, the curse is broken for all of the members of the Zodiac and they’re granted their freedom. Kyo and Tohru confirm their feelings for each other and take the first step towards their new future. The drama of a family cursed by the Zodiac comes to a moving conclusion!!
This collector’s edition also includes a long interview with Natsuki Takaya-sensei, character introductions, a history of the serialized publication, and much more!!!

In this final volume, we see how with the curse broken and gone how the Sohmas finally get to live a life that they want to live, rather than a life that centers around their god. Yuki, Kyo, and all the others that we have come to love and see grow up are now able to pursue those they love and the lives they want to live, such as going to college.

We see Tohru and Kyo also start to figure out what it is they want to do with their lives, especially Kyo who never really thought past high school due to his particular curse of being the Cat of the zodiac. But with the curse broken, he can now think of his future and what that means for Tohru.

I love happy endings, and I love that Fruits Basket gave us more than just a “they lived happily ever after,” we see a bit of Kyo and Tohru’s life specifically after high school, with their family and just happily walking hand-in-hand.

This volume also gives us more about the characters and interviews with the author/illustrator, and so much more.

What do you think of happy endings? Do you like it when characters get the endings they deserve? Comment below and let me know!
