Top Ten New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2018

Hi guys! It’s Tuesday and I’m back on the wagon for Top Ten Tuesdays! Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s subject is new-to-me authors. Now, I’m going to have to scrounge back through my reading of last year in order to make sure I have ten new-to-me authors. I feel like I should, but we’ll just have to see. Now, in no particular order:

Rachel Caine – Author of Ink and Bone, the first book in The Great Library series

Bill Willingham – Author of the Fables comic series

Shaun Bythell – Author of The Diary of a Bookseller

Claire O’Dell – Author of A Study in Honor, a near-futuristic retelling of Sherlock Holmes

Tiana Warner – Author of Ice Massacre, the first Mermaids of Eriana Kwai book

Rebecca Roanhorse – Author of Trail of Lightening, an own voice debut author of Native American mythology

Madeline Miller – Author of Circe, a retelling of the life of Circe, one of the strongest witches in Greek mythology

Hank Green – Author of An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, a debut book

Claire Kann – Author of Let’s Talk About Love, a new adult book with an asexual biromantic main character

Kiiro Yumi – Author of the Library Wars manga series, which I am in process of putting out reviews right now

These are authors who are new to me, either because I haven’t read their previous books before, or because they debuted just this year. In either case, I loved their writing, I loved their books and they will be authors that I will keep an eye out for when it comes to buying or checking out books from the library.

Which authors did you discover last year? What did you think of them? Comment below and let me know!
