library wars 2This is the second volume of Library Wars, and it continues right where the previous one left off.

In the near future, the federal government creates a committee to rid society of books it deems unsuitable. The libraries vow to protect their collections, and with the help of local governments, form a military group to defend themselves–the Library Forces!

When the director of the Kanto Library Base gets sick, a temporary replacement is assigned, according to regulations. But Iku and her roommate, Asako, discover a trail of missing books that lead back to the temporary director. Has he betrayed everything the Library Forces stand for and handed books over to the enemy?!

Now, I’m going to be straight with you; I have read the first few volumes of this manga extremely fast. Like, several within 2-3 days fast. That also means that I don’t remember a lot of the specific storylines for each volume completely. I remember what’s going on, but I’m not completely sure as to when and where the stories happened. I do remember that this one, the temporary director was working with the MBC (?) to get books removed from the library that are on the list of offensive books.

I love how Iku works to her best ability, which is her physical ability and her inability to fully process. But this is her passion and her sense of right and what gives her her strength to work in the Library Forces. I love that Iku believes so strongly in the Library and the Forces that defend the library. She reflects my own thoughts about libraries in our world today, that they need to be protected, though I truly hope that it doesn’t come to have a military-like force to do so. If it does though, I will protect libraries will all of my heart.

Have you guys read this manga? What do you think of it? Comment below and let me know!
