I love my friends at work! They recommend to me awesome things to read! Especially since we work at a library, my friend recommended this manga to me as I was looking for something nice to read that dealt with libraries! I love it! So excellent!
In the near future, the federal government creates a committee to rid society of books it deems unsuitable. The libraries vow to protect their collections, and with the help of local governments, form a military group to defend themselves–the Library Forces!
Iku Kasahara has dreamed of joining the Library Defense Force ever since one of its soldiers stepped in to protect her favorite book from being confiscated in a bookstore when she was younger. But now that she’s finally a recruit, she’s finding her dream job to be a bit of a nightmare. Especially since her hard-hearted drill instructor seems to have it in for her!
Most manga are quick and lovely reads and this one was no exception. But what I think I love most about this particular series so far is that libraries are the last institution where censoring is not allowed, but censoring has gone far beyond what it should in the rest of the world. As Kasahara works to become part of the Defense Force of the library, where she can work to protect the library and all its abilities!
I love how hard Kasahara works, but how much she still has to learn. It shows that people can continually grow. It also shows others that may look down on her methods that there is more than one way to do something and to do it correctly. I love it and I have ordered the next four volumes from other libraries in my system to continue reading them.
