Top Ten Books: I Love to Reread
Yep, it’s another Tuesday and another Top Ten, this time we’ll be exploring the top ten books that I love to reread/relisten to.
As with a lot of people, I do love reading new books, but there are times when I just want to visit an old friend, an old book and just experience my old friends in that book again. So, my top ten rereads are:
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (audio)
- The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (audio)
- Dragonsong by Anne McCaffery
- A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
- The Diary of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell
- The Martian by Andy Weir (audio)
- An Assembly Such as This by Pamela Aiden
- Page by Paige by Laura Lee Gulledge
- Lord Brocktree by Brian Jacques
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling (audio and hardcopy)
I love all of these books and I am a rereader/relistener. There are times when all that I want is to just go back to a safe and happy place when I read and these are the books that I turn to.
If I need a good laugh, I go to The Martian by Andy Weir. The main character, Mark Watney, is absolutely hilarious! Yes, he’s stranded on Mars, but he’s making the best of it and he’s just cracking jokes the whole way through. Yes, there are times when he freaks out, for good reason, but he always pulls himself back up once he figures out what to do next.
For a visit to my childhood, I turn to Harry Potter or Lord Brocktree. These two books were major influences on my childhood and when I need the comfort of my childhood, these are the books I pick up.
As Fall comes around, it always feels like I need to go back to visit Le Cirque des Rêves (The Circus of Dreams) which is the name of the actual circus focused on in the books, only open from sunset to sunrise. I love the feeling of being in a circus that was created of dreams and love letters and it seems to be there just for you.
All of these books are just a small selection of my favorites, but these are ones that I do turn back to when I want to reread a book or relisten to it. What are some of your favorite rereads/relistens? Why are those the books you go back to? Comment below and let me know!
