Libriomancer by Jim C. Hines

♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

libriomancerHave you ever read a book and the thing you think of is that the main character is you? Well, that is what happened to me with this character, he seemed to be a male version of me! And I loved it! I need to continue reading this series!

Isaac Vainio is a libriomancer or someone who has the ability to pull the items from books through the use of magic and unified belief. But he has been out of the field for the past two years due to nearly being destroyed by his own magic. Things get shaken up when vampires show up at his library, demanding information for something that Isaac has no idea about. He would have been killed were it not for a motorcycle-riding, bokken wielding dyrad. The reason she is there is because the vampires also attacked her and her partner, a libriomancer psychologist who was taken by the vampires.

As Isaac and Lena Greenwood try to figure and unravel why the vampires are attacking all magic-wielders throughout the world, they learn that Gutenberg, the founder of the libriomancers has also been kidnapped. As they figure out what the hell is going on, they need to find Gutenberg and put things back to normal, or as normal as things can be when wielding magic.

I need to get the rest of these books and read them! I love that Isaac is a sci-fi geek, and I love that it shows up in who he is! Doctor Who and Firefly, I just need to keep reading these books.

What books have you read that the character was a reflection of you? Comment below and let me know!
