Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson

♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

warbreakerIn a world where you are thought to be redundant, that you are the spare for the spare, you feel as though you are able to get away with anything in the world. But what happens when you are no longer the spare? What happens when you as the spare of the spare are now required to do what the original was supposed to do? For Siri, this means she is to marry the God King of Hallandren in place of her oldest sister Vivenna for what their father says is best for Idris, their kingdom.

As Siri is taken to Hallandren, Vivenna decides that she needs to follow her sister in order to rescue her. Hallandren though is far different from what either sister expects. For Siri, the colors are beautiful, wonderful, and all the people are amazing. But, being locked in the God King’s Palace as soon as she gets to Halladren, where she is told, as the Vessel, the only thing that is required of her is to bear the God King a child.

For Vivenna, Hallandren is one of the most horrid and obscene and heretic places on the planet. All the colors, all the people, all the worship of the Returned; how can anyone live here and think they are going to be saved?! At least, that is how she thinks. She has to rescue Siri, Siri has been trained to deal with the God King, the Returned, and Hallandren. But how is Vivenna supposed to save her sister when she has to work with those that use Breath?

As both sisters try to figure out their new places in the world, as well as their places in Hallandren, we see them change and grow. They become themselves, and we see what happens when their expectations are dropped and shattered.

I love this book, and I really really hope the next one comes out soon, but I’ll have to patient and wait. And I hate waiting, but I’d rather have some written well and wait, then have it now and hate it for the rushed writing.

What author do you really love? Have you read all of their books, or is there only some that you have read? Comment below and let me know!
