The Burning Page by Genevieve Cogman

the burning pageWhat I thought was the end of a thrilling series, I am happy to say that this is not the end! YAY! That makes me a lot happier, and I feel better about the book series now! Anyway, onto the review!

Just because of what happened in The Masked City where Irene left her post as Librarian-in-Resident to rescue her apprentice, Kai, she is now stuck on probation until further notice. For her, and for Kai by association, they are sent onto some of the worst book retrieval missions from worlds where it’s harder to retrieve books. But trouble always seems to find Irene, and what should have been a simple snatch and retrieve, turns into a mission to find and protect the library from Albreich’s newest scheme.

Albreich’s newest plan has been making waves in multiple worlds, and whatever he’s doing is creating major damage to The Library. As Irene and Kai do a little sleuthing around, they find out that Albreich’s plain is to completely destroy The Library, but by using The Library’s own methods; taking books from alternative worlds and taking them to his alternative library in the hopes of completely destroying The Library.

As Irene and Kai struggle to figure out how to battle Albreich, she pulls in any and all allies that she needs. With so much at stake though, both for The Library and Irene herself, dangerous things come out of the shadows and betrayals start to pop up.

When I first finished this book, I was super unsatisfied with the ending, because I honestly thought that it was the last book in the series! But then I decided to, you know, actually look and see if it was the last book and it isn’t!!!! Thank the heavens!!! So, I’m very excited to see what Irene, Kai, and Vale do next with where it left off at the end of this book.

What books series had an unsatisfying ending for you? Why was it unsatisfying? Comment below and let me know!
