The Blood of Whisperers by Devin Madson

Now, this was an interesting book. A rotating story between 3 different points of view, we get to know this world where certain types of people can read minds and emotions by being in the same area of them, as well going deeper into their mind by touching skin. It’s a world where the emperor slaughtered the last man to sit on the throne, and those left of that family seek to take the throne back. There are back door dealings, and trouble is not only brewing for the throne, but for those who would take the throne back in any way possible.
The main character, Endymion, is one of the men who can feel and exploit the emotions of those around him and he is also the true heir to the emperor’s throne. Caught in a whirlwind between the fight for the throne and those who would take it from the royal dispersed family, Endymion is starting to lose control of his ability, taking in more and more around him.
This was such an interesting book, that the one issue that I really had with the book was wiped out. I loved the world this book was set it, the idea of Empathy is an ability to use magic, and the fighting to keep the throne either in the hands of the man who murdered or to those of the royal family who were left from the slaughter.
What’s been a book where the magic gave the world an interesting perspective? Comment below and let me know!
